SOPAC Data Archive Documentation
SOPAC archives RINEX observation (rinex/obs), navigation (nav), meteorological (met), and raw continuous GPS data from arrays around the world. In addition, several product files are available. These are:
  • gfiles: orbit files that can only be used in GAMIT GPS data processing.
  • combinations: weekly GLOBK processing results. Weekly orbits, repeatabilities, positions and more, in GAMIT/GLOBK format.
  • hfiles: the official GAMIT solution exchange file. ASCII file, with coordinates, orbits and the full variance-covariance matrix. Can be used as pseudo-observations into the GLOBK package.
  • products: sp3 precise ephemeris orbits (.sp3 format), sinex files, analysis summary files, earth orientation files and clock files derived by a variety of analysis centers as well as the official IGS products.
    • Orbits are available from IGS and all IGS analysis centers (sio, jpl, cod, ngs, emr, usn, cod and gfz). Filenaming conventions use the following, where 'xx' represents the first two letters of the IGS analysis center:
      • xxo: final orbits, available within 10 days after the end of the UT day
      • xxr: rapid orbits, available after 17 hours
      • xxu: ultra-rapid orbits, provided twice per day

ALERT! Rinex files on the SOPAC archive have been converted to the Hatanaka format. More information, including instructions on how to obtain software to convert these 'd' files to RINEX format, is available here.

Data are available via two web-based data browsers, described next, and via http or ftp. http/ftp instructions are listed at the end of this document.

Data By Site   This data browser provides a listing of the rinex obs, met, nav and raw GPS data available on the SOPAC archive for the site(s) and/or array(s) provided, over the time period specified.

Select the begin and end dates and site/arrays of interest, and click the "Show Availability" button. A listing of available sites and their files is displayed. Observation files are listed as a file completion percentage (1-100%). Navigation and meteorological files display "N" and "M", respectively. '-' indicates that no file is available.

Click on the site name for site information. Select the file completion percentage value (or letter) to view/download the respective file.

Data By Date   Lists all site data available for the single day and data type provided by the user. Select a data type, day and year. Click on 'Show Data' to see a listing of files for the day/data type selected. Then select a file for view/download.

Please note that for data types gfiles, hfiles, products and combinations, the day/year selected is converted to a GPS week and all files for that week/data type are displayed.
